כבר לאחר הפיצוץ הראשון התלקחה אש, שאיימה על בתים באזור, וגרמה לפינוי תושבים ברדיוס של 300 מטרים מהמקום. גם הכבישים בסביבת תחנת הדלק נסגרו לתנועה. בפעולות הכיבוי השתתפו 25 כבאיות.
