בשבוע האחרון, יצאה אוגדה 36 להתקפה נרחבת בצפון רצועת עזה, כחלק מהפעילות הקרקעית ברצועה, והגיעה לקו החוף בעזה. תפקיד האוגדה הוא לכתר את העיר עזה, לתקוף ולהשמיד יעדים משמעותיים כמו מפקדות טרור של ארגון הטרור חמאס.

במהלך הלחימה, אוגדה 36 תקפה מעל 1,600 מטרות של ארגון הטרור חמאס. המטרות כוללות תשתיות של הארגון, מחסני אמל"ח, עמדות נ"ט ותצפית וכוחות קרקעיים של הארגון.
לוחמי אוגדה 36 חיסלו מתחילת הלחימה למעלה מ-300 מחבלים באמצעות אש ארטילרית ובתיאום חיל אוויר ובקרבות שניהלו לוחמי החי"ר והשריון. ב-12 השעות האחרונות תקפו כוחות האוגדה כ-50 מטרות ביניהם שטחי לחימה, דירות מבצעיות, מוצבים ועמדות, תשתיות תת-קרקע ומחבלים שחוסלו בקרבות פנים אל פנים.
